Robot made by CL’s father stars in “Can’t Nobody” MV!

On the 12th, 2NE1’s music video for “Can’t Nobody” was released and near the middle of the video, leader CL’s solo scene is filmed before human-sized robots. These robots, as it turns out, were creations of CL’s father!

In a recent interview, CL revealed that “My father writes and makes robots in his free time” and sounding very proud of her father, she announced that “The robot that my father made will appear in the Music Video for “Can’t Nobody”!”

Her father is Lee Ki Jin, a professor of physics at SuhGang University and also a children’s story author with a few series of his own, such as “Headbutt Kkakka“. In the stories, there are characters that have been modeled after CL.
CL said that due to her father’s endless creations and his passion for them, his passion subsequently rubbed off on her. She thanked her father for his unfailing support when she became a singer.
CL laughed as she said, “When I was little, I didn’t have a TV in my house. Instead, I spent my weekends drawing with my father, listening to music, and going on walks. My mother also drew and participates in many creative activities, and I think I was greatly influenced by the two of them.”
2Ne1 has come back onto the stage after a year with their first full album, “To Anyone”. They have been promoting their three songs, “Clap Your Hands”, “Can’t Nobody”, and “Go Away”.

SBS’s special treatment for 2NE1 backfires

With 2NE1 having completed their impressive triple track comeback performance on SBS‘ ”Inkigayo,” they’ve become the topic of much sarcastic and cynical remarks, putting what seems like an adverse effect on the special treatment they received from SBS.

2NE1 performed three songs on the 12th as, not live, but pre-recorded stages. Many believe that as a rookie group, receiving the time to show three songs is ground-breaking enough, when other singers are only allowed to sing two songs for their comeback stages. It’s been standard for top stars only to perform three songs, and even then, it’s only a couple seconds-long intro, half of a follow-up track, and finally the title track performance.

In terms of comparisons, 2NE1 has already jumped the level of rock legend Seo Taiji. In 2008, Seo Taiji’s return to the industry after four years of absence only warranted a two track comeback stage. Even top stars like Rain, Hyori, and BoA only performed a couple seconds worth of a follow-up track.
2NE1, on the other hand, performed all three songs and took up nearly 15 minutes. Viewers were unsettled with the fact that other rookie groups with strong vocal talent were not able to perform because of their weaker agencies in comparison to YG Entertainment. Fans of the industry commented, “Was this a 2NE1 episode?” and “Is SBS Inkigayo just a show made to promote YG artists?”
Many are also of the opinion that performing all three tracks on the day of their comeback was a risky gamble and that it made them “boring” because everything was shown at once. 2NE1 received high reviews as soon as their songs were revealed and dominated online music charts. Still, viewers couldn’t help but be left feeling as if 2NE1’s entire success and comeback was shown on one stage in 11 minutes.
A music program is unfortunately not a personal concert, but an opportunity to give a close-up on a group’s particular skill or talent. Viewers concluded 2NE1’s comeback with the thought that if 2NE1 went as far as to receive criticism for receiving special treatment from SBS, they should have at least tried to offset the rather repetitive atmosphere with a ballad track like “I’m Hurt.”
Viewer message boards are covered with posts such as, “I wanted to see a more variety of artists but I had to watch one group for over 10 minutes.

One agency representative commented, “In that time, four different rookie teams could have performed. No matter how big their agency is, this is just going too far,” while a broadcast representative stated, “They have forgotten that they are not just a music program but one with a music chart. They are losing their focus.”
This is not the first time SBS is under fire for giving special treatment to YG Entertainment artists. 2NE1’s debut stage was given double the time a standard rookie team is given, the same for G-Dragon’s solo stage as well. As if warming to such treatment, YG artists also do not perform on other company music programs. On the “Idol Big Show” program created by the producers of Inkigayo, they showed an even more blatant preference for YG artists, with over half the show being run by Big Bang and 2NE1.

Jiyeon of T-ara has childhood pictures released!

T-ara’s cute Jiyeon recently had some childhood photos posted on an online internet community website.
In the first picture, Jiyeon is shown wearing a ballerina costume and posing shyly. Other pictures show this idol alongside her peaceful-looking family or drawing a cute V-pose. In all of these pictures, Jiyeon proudly presents her small face and big eyes, which does not appear to be much different than her current self.
The pictures were received positively  by netizens, some commenting with, “Since she dances well now it seems like she must have been good at ballerina when she was little” and “Jiyeon looks pretty no matter what she wears.”

Jay Park releases fan meeting X-file pictures

Talented solo artist Jay Park revealed previously unreleased pictures taken during his fan meeting via me2day.

The singer’s affiliated management Sidus HQ publicized these pictures of Jay on the 9th to give a better depiction of his fan meeting. Jay Park’s first fan meeting in Korea, titled “JAY PARK FAN MEETS Tour 2010″, took place at Seoul Sung Book Gyu Ahn Am Dong Goryuh college’s Hwajung gym. In these publicized pictures, Jay is shown relaxed and playing with his friends. Furthermore, Jay played with a provided white board as he drew with his friends at the resting area. He was also seen satisfying his hunger with chicken and banana.

After a brief moment of joking and fun, Jay was seen proceeding to the stage where the pictures capture his nervous expression. Along with a picture of Jay’s back before his approaching the stage were the words, “This is a picture that gives you the feeling of deep emotion and being touched. The moment of meeting the fans that have waited a long time…I must not be the only one who feels full of emotion at seeing Jay’s back ^^ Aside from the picture I can almost hear the harmony of shouts and cheers from the fans.”

Fans who viewed these pictures commented “I feel touched just looking at the pictures,” “Let’s deliciously eat a lot and gain a little bit of weight President Park” and “I recall the touched feelings I felt during the fan meeting again.”

Playful Kiss deemed inappropriate

In the previous episode of “Playful Kiss,” Seung Jo (played by SS501 Kim Hyun Joong) and Hani (Jung So Min) drank alcohol, causing Hani to become drunk. This part of the drama is buying criticism from some viewers due to the inappropriateness of showing underage drinking in a good light.
While many viewers found the drunk Hani cute, some expressed their concern, saying, “Did the producers really think that a female high school student’s drunk behavior would not be a problem?” and “I understand what the producers were trying to portray, but I’m worried that my daughter might act like this also.
Another issue was brought up over the scene in which Seung Jo carries the drunk Hani back to her house and points out her small breasts. He says to her, “How are you going to raise kids when your breasts are like this?” Some viewers saw this as a form of sexual harassment and were further bewildered by the fact that Hani was not even angered by this – instead, she tried to make her breasts look bigger by stuffing her bra with socks.
A viewer responded, “I can only laugh. The predictable plot and corny lines, and now sexual harassment to top it off. I have nothing to say.” One viewer even went as far as to say, “This may become the worst drama ever.
